2015 1 oz. Silver Eagle
The United States Mint began production of the Silver Eagle series of coins in 1986. This is one of the most widely recognized coins in the world, as well as one of the most collected. American Silver Eagles offer a fantastic combination of visual appeal, silver content, and potential collectible value. The Silver Eagle has always been popular, but recently the massive number of orders and record levels of demand have caused the United States Mint to stop taking orders for more of these coins on several occasions.
1 Troy oz. .999 Fine Silver
Each American Silver Eagle contains 1 Troy oz. of silver. The silver that these coins are made of is .999 fine. This means that if you were to divide this coin into 1,000 equal pieces, only 1 of them would be anything other than silver. Sometimes this level of purity may be referred to as 3 9s fine.
NGC GEM Uncirculated with Philadelphia Phillies Label
This 2015 Silver Eagle was submitted to the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation for grading. The NGC gave this coin the grade of GEM uncirculated. While the NGC typically assigns a numerical grade using a 70 point scale, the grade GEM uncirculated is more of a minimum. It means that the coin you receive will be at least equivalent to an MS65.
This coin is permanently sealed in an NGC holder. The coin was sealed in its holder during the grading process. The holder will protect the coin without obstructing the view.
The Philadelphia Phillies label is located on the front of the NGC holder. This label shows the grade of the coin as well as the MLB™ logo and the logo of the Philadelphia Phillies. To the left of the Phillies logo is the Phillies P on a baseball field.
Philadelphia Phillies Silver Eagle Design
The front of the American Silver Eagle is a modernized version of the Walking Liberty design once used for fifty cent pieces. The sun can be seen in the distance while Liberty walks across the horizon. With one arm she carries a bundle of branches. The Stars and Stripes of our flag can be seen flowing behind Liberty. This side is inscribed with “2015,” “LIBERTY,” and “IN GOD WE TRUST.”
The back of this coin features another American icon, the bald eagle. It is holding a banner in its beak which reads “E PLURIBUS UNUM.” The eagle holds an olive branch with one foot and a bundle of arrows with the other. 13 stars form a triangular pattern above the eagle’s head. This side of the coin is inscribed with the words “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “ONE DOLLAR,” and “1 OZ. FINE SILVER.”
This 2015 NGC GEM uncirculated Silver Eagle with a Philadelphia Phillies label would make a fine addition to any collection, or a great gift for a Phillies fan.
