Why order this 2014-P+DSpecimen Kennedy Half Dollar 50th Anniversary Set?
Americans were shocked and horrified on November 22, 1963 when President John F. Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas, Texas. The beloved President was quickly honored with a half dollar coin that has been a tribute to him ever since. In 2014, the US Mint released this set of Specimen Kennedy Half Dollars from the Philadelphia and Denver Mint to mark the fiftieth anniversary of the coin's debut.
Iconic President John F. Kennedy Design by Gilroy Roberts
Obverse: The coin's obverse features a left-side portrait of President John F. Kennedy that was designed by Gilroy Roberts. The likeness splits an inscription of the national motto, "IN GOD WE TRUST." "LIBERTY" and "2014" are inscribed along the rim.
Reverse: On the reverse is a modified version of the Presidential Seal that was designed by Frank Gasparro. Fifty stars encircle an eagle, which holds arrows and an olive branch while guarding a union shield. Along the rim are inscriptions of the name of the issuing country, "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," and the face value of the coin, "HALF DOLLAR."
Beautifully Preserved SP68 with Black Core Holders and Ask Not Labels
Both coins in this set were graded Specimen 68 by the experts at Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC). That grade means that the coins were struck very sharply. These grades are provided on Ask Not labels, which bear a replica of President John F. Kennedy's signature and one of his most famous quotes. The coins come set in black core holders.
