This is the third of five issues for 2014 in the 5 Oz America the Beautiful (ATB) .999 fine silver quarter series, and its design depicts one of the natural bridge formations in Arches National Park located in Eastern Utah. This park contains over 2,000 natural sandstone arch formations that are the result of 300 million years of natural erosion. Unfortunately 43 of the arches have collapsed since 1970.
In addition to its unique natural beauty, this park serves as a preservation site for historic purposes as well. Evidence of civilization remains at the park in the form of petroglyphs that date back some 10,000 years. These crude drawings of animals and other features were left behind by the Ute tribe of Native Americans, the people for whom the state was named.
This particular product is the mint-marked 'collectors edition' version - the non-mint-marked 'bullion' version is a different product carried by ModernCoinMart.
