Why order this 2014-D Clad 50th Anniversary High Relief Kennedy Half Dollar?
Americans were shocked and horrified to see President John F. Kennedy assassinated in 1963. The event shook the nation to its core, and Americans sought ways to honor the fallen leader. One way of doing so was the issuance of the first ever Kennedy Half Dollar in 1964, just months after the assassination. The coin has been issued ever since, and this high relief piece from the Denver Mint was issued to mark the 50th anniversary of the iconic series.
Powerful President John F. Kennedy Design by Gilroy Roberts
Obverse: A left-side portrait of President John F. Kennedy that was designed by Gilroy Roberts graces the obverse. The young leader's bust splits the national motto, "IN GOD WE TRUST." Rim inscriptions read, "LIBERTY" and "2014."
Reverse: Frank Gasparro's reverse design is an adaptation of the Presidential Seal. An eagle guards a shield while holding arrows and an olive branch under thirteen stars. Encircling the image are fifty stars and two rim inscriptions, which read, "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and "HALF DOLLAR."
Virtually Flawless SP69 ER with Signature Label
