Design of the 2014 Silver Five Blessings coin
Probably one of the most significant features of this coin is its reverse design and what it represents in Chinese culture. Each 2014 1 oz. Silver Five Blessings coin shows four animals and one Chinese character which represent the "Five Blessings" of the Chinese culture. The first of the five is a bat which reflects the wish for happiness. The second image is of a deer, which represents success in China. The third animal displayed on the coin is a crane which wishes well for a long life. The fourth animal on the coin features a pair of magpies that symbolize joy. The final image on the coin is a Chinese character for good fortune. All together, these five symbols represent the Five Blessings of the Chinese heritage and culture. The inscriptions on this side of the coin read: "FINE SILVER 9999 1 oz. ARGENT PUR 9999."
On the obverse of this coin is is the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II which is unique to coins minted by the Royal Canadian Mint. Inscribed on the obverse of this coin is: "ELIZABETH 5 DOLLARS 2014," for its subject, face value and issuing year.
