Gray wolves, such as the one seen howling on this coin, is a native animal of North America. They travel and hunt in packs, and are highly territorial. Their howl is a method of communication between members of their packs. They have many different howls of different volumes and pitches, and each howl has its own meaning. They can mean anything from assembling the pack to warning of danger, to even locating each other during a snow storm!
This beautiful coin minted by the Royal Canadian Mint has a diameter of 30 mm, and a thickness of 2.87 mm. It comes sealed and protected in its official government packaging from the mint, inside of a plastic cap contained in a card. This 2014 gold coin is legal tender under the authority of the Canadian government, and bears a denomination of $200.
