The Girl Scouts of the United States of America is an organization founded in 1912 to help young girls learn skills to become successful women. Founded in Savannah, Georgia, by Juliette Gordon Low with 15 girls, the organization has grown to involve nearly 3.2 million girls and nearly half that number of volunteer adults.

The obverse of the Girl Scout Commemorative Dollar features three girls of various ages and backgrounds with the inscription "Courage - Confidence - Character" and the reverse depicts the current logo of the organization adopted in 2010 as a replacement for the original logo, designed by Ms. Low.

This coin was issued to commemorate the centennial of the first girl scout meeting held on March 12, 1912.
