Why order this 2-Coin 2013-W West Point Silver Eagle Set?
Discerning collectors are sure to love this remarkable two-coin Silver Eagle Set from the West Point Mint. The set features a pair of firsts: one an "Enhanced Uncirculated" Silver Eagle and the second a Reverse Proof Silver Eagle with the West Point Mint's "W" mint mark, which both of these coins bear. The Enhanced Uncirculated piece brings together elements of a satin finish uncirculated coin, a frosted proof coin, and a reverse proof. Both coins were struck from one ounce of .999 fine silver.
Historic Walking Liberty Design by Adolph Weinman
The two coins in this set share the same designs. On the obverse is Adolph Weinman's Walking Liberty, which first appeared on the half dollar in 1916. Liberty wears a Phrygian cap as a symbol of her freedom. She is draped in the American flag. In her left hand, she carries branches of laurel, which symbolize civilian honors, and oak, which represent military honors. She extends her right hand in front of her, as though she is presenting the rising sun to the holder.
John Mercanti created the reverse design for the inaugural release of this Silver Eagle Series in 1986. Adapted from the Great Seal of the United States, it features an eagle guarding a union shield. The shield represents the country. In the bird's beak is a ribbon that bears the words "E PLURIBUS UNUM" (From many, one), and in its talons are arrows and an olive branch. The former represents America's willingness to defend its values, while the later indicates a preference for peace. At the top of the design are thirteen stars, symbols of the original states.
Impeccable PF70 ER
Both of the coins in this set received Numismatic Guaranty Corporation's (NGC's) highest grade, Proof 70, which is reserved for coins that lack any imperfections that are visible under 5x magnification. They were also labeled Early Releases, a designation that indicates that they were received by the grading company no more than thirty days after their initial release.
