The reverse design, which Mercanti modeled off of the Great Seal of the United States, consists of thirteen stars and an eagle that protects a union shield.
$5 Note: The Federal Reserve Note features a portrait of President Abraham Lincoln on the obverse. The reverse is dominated by a vignette of the Lincoln Memorial, which honors one of America's most beloved presidents.
