Why purchase this American Silver Eagle bullion coin struck in San Francisco 2012?
The American Silver Eagle has been a product of the U.S. Mint since 1986. Increased popularity of the series prompted the Mint to utilize both the West Point and San Francisco Mints for production of the bullion issue beginning in 2011. This 2012 Silver Eagle was struck from 1 Troy oz. of .999 fine silver at the San Francisco Mint, as indicated by the (S) on the certification label only, not an actual Mint mark on the coin itself.
Beautiful Historic Imagery
Adolph A. Weinman's 1916 Walking Liberty Half Dollar design is re-sized from its original smaller diameter on the obverse. Lady Liberty is depicted wrapped an American Flag, confidently striding toward the rising sun. Inscribed "LIBERTY," "2012" and "IN GOD WE TRUST."
The reverse features the artistry of American sculptor John Mercanti, portraying a magnificently detailed heraldic eagle behind a striped shield clutching arrows and an olive branch. Inscriptions include "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "1 OZ. FINE SILVER," "ONE DOLLAR" and "E PLURIBUS UNUM."
