Why add the 5 oz. Silver Chaco coin to your collection?

The America’s Beautiful National Parks Quarter Dollar Coin Act of 2008 authorized 5 oz. silver bullion coins to be struck featuring the same designs as the quarters. The investment-grade America the Beautiful 5 oz. coins are a spectacular three inches (76.2mm) in diameter and contain 5 Troy oz. of .999 fine silver (155.5 grams). This 2012-P 5 oz. Specimen ATB coin, 12th in the series with a mintage of 17,146, honors Chaco Culture National Historical Park, which contains the most extensive collection of ancient ruins north of Mexico.

Each of the America the Beautiful Quarters has a common obverse design: the 1932 bust of George Washington by John Flanagan, with the inscriptions “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA”, “LIBERTY”, “IN GOD WE TRUST” and “QUARTER DOLLAR”. The reverse, created by Donna Weaver and Phebe Hemphill, depicts in exquisite detail, the west of two elevated kivas that are part of the Chetro Ketl Complex, featuring the canyon north wall. Inscriptions are “CHACO CULTURE”, “NEW MEXICO”, “2012” and “E PLURIBUS UNUM”, with “.999 FINE SILVER 5.0 OUNCE” along the smooth edge.

The “P” Mint mark on this silver Specimen coin differentiates it from the higher mintage companion bullion coin. Due to its high quality strike and matte-like finish, NGC (Numismatic Guaranty Corporation), a highly respected coin authentication company, has graded this 2012-P 5 oz. Silver America the Beautiful Chaco coin a nearly flawless SP69.
