Why add this 2011-W Burnished American Silver Eagle to your collection?
In 2011, the Uncirculated (Burnished) collector's version of the American Silver Eagle returned to the U.S. Mint's popular series following a two year break in production. The 2011-W Burnished Silver Eagle was struck from 1 Troy oz. of .999 fine silver at the West Point Mint with a diameter measuring 40.60 mm, its final mintage reported to be 409,766. The stunning coin is distinguished by an exceptional matte-like finish, and carries a "W" Mint mark to clearly differentiate it from the bullion issue.
Dramatic Patriotic Designs
Walking Liberty from Adolph A. Weinman's 1916 Half Dollar design is replicated on the obverse, striding toward a rising sun draped in the American flag, while carrying a magnificent bouquet of laurel and oak branches. Inscribed "LIBERTY," "2011" and "IN GOD WE TRUST."
The reverse depicts a heraldic eagle behind a shield grasping an olive branch and arrows, inspired by the Great Seal of the United States. Above the eagle are thirteen stars representing the original colonies. The patriotic image designed by John Mercanti includes the inscriptions "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "1 OZ. FINE SILVER," "ONE DOLLAR" and "E PLURIBUS UNUM."
