Why add the 2011-W $50 1 oz. Proof Gold Buffalo NGC PF69 UC (Buffalo Label) to your collection?

Graded Proof 69 Ultra Cameo by Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) this 2011-W $50 1 oz. Proof Gold Buffalo with collectable Buffalo Label has a low mintage of 28,683 units.

The Gold Buffalo program is the US Mint’s 24 karat, .9999 fine gold coin. It has been very successful since the introduction in 2006. This proof quality coin was struck at the West Point, New York Mint facility from polished dies and planchets. Each $50 face value coin contains 1 oz. of .9999 pure gold and is backed by the US Government.

The design of the coin is based on the classic Buffalo Nickel design by renowned American Sculptor, James Earle Fraser. The obverse features a right-facing Native American man whose image was based on three different models. The reverse features the iconic symbol of the American West, the buffalo. The image was drawn from the Bison in residence at the time of the original design in the New York City Zoo, Black Diamond.

The NGC Ultra Cameo designation is reserved for the highest quality proof coins and notes the marked contrast between the raised details, which have a frosted appearance and the flat, mirrored fields of the coin. The PF69 grade notes that this coin has superior appearance and lustrous surfaces, truly a collector coin for the ages.
