Powerful Domestic Tranquility Design by Joel IskowitzJohn Mercanti's obverse design features a closeup look at the face of the Statue of Liberty. She looks directly into the holder's eyes. The seven rays of her crown represent the seven seas and seven continents through which liberty is meant to spread. Inscriptions include "LIBERTY," "2011," "IN GOD WE TRUST," and "E PLURIBUS UNUM." Joel Iskowitz designed and Phebe Hemphill sculpted the reverse, which harks back to the phrase "to ensure domestic tranquility." A wheat field represents the nation's size and diversity of views. An eagle privy mark is included on the rim along with inscriptions that offer the coin's country, weight, purity, and face value. Stunning PF69 UC ERNumismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) awarded this coin its second highest grade, Proof 69, which means that it appears flawless to the naked eye. They also credited it with exhibiting sharp contrasts between heavily frosted devices and deeply mirrored fields by certifying it Ultra Cameo. Finally, NGC noted that this piece was submitted for grading within 30 days of its initial release from the mint by labeling it Early Releases.
