Striking Peacetime Service Design by Donna Weaver

Obverse: Donna Weaver's obverse design features the peacetime service of the US Army. The design includes two servicemen building a flood wall, another surveying, and a Redstone Army rocket, which was part of the early space program. "U.S. ARMY" and "SERVICE IN PEACE" are inscribed at the top, and "LIBERTY" is inscribed at the bottom. The date, "2011," and the national motto, "IN GOD WE TRUST," are also included on this face.

Reverse: The reverse design, which is the work of Thomas Cleveland and Joseph Menna, features a Continental Army soldier and his musket. Thirteen stars arch over him and the inscription "FIRST IN SERVICE TO THE NATION." Rim inscriptions read, "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "E PLURIBUS UNUM," and "HALF DOLLAR.".
