Why add this 2011-S 25th Anniversary Silver Eagle to your silver coin collection?
Celebrating its 25th Anniversary, the American Silver Eagle has been a favorite numismatic collectible since it was first introduced by the United States Mint. This coin, minted at the San Francisco branch of the U.S. Mint, was originally part of the five coin A-25 anniversary set, which had a total mintage of 100,000 sets. Each Silver Eagle carries a value of $1 dollar, measures 40.6 mm in diameter, and is 1 Troy oz. of .999 fine silver.
The obverse of this magnificent coin depicts Lady Liberty gracefully wrapped in a beautifully draped and detailed American Flag, confidently striding toward the rising sun, carrying a bouquet of laurel and oak branches in her left arm. The word “LIBERTY” stretches overhead with the year beneath her feet. “IN GOD WE TRUST” is written to her right. The reverse, by United States Mint sculptor John Mercanti, portrays a heroic eagle with a shield grasping an olive branch and arrows, echoing the Great Seal of the United States. Thirteen stars to represent the original Colonies are inscribed, as well as the phrases “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA”, “1 OZ. FINE SILVER”, “ONE DOLLAR”, and “E PLURIBUS UNUM”.
This stunning 2011-S Silver Eagle is graded a perfect Mint State MS70 by NGC (Numismatic Guaranty Corporation), a highly respected coin authentication company.
