Why should you commemorate the battle of Gettysburg with this exquisite 5 oz. Silver America the Beautiful Quarter?

Struck at the U.S. Mint in 2011, this 5 oz. silver coin is released from the widely popular America the Beautiful program; released annually by the Mint to celebrate each state and their unique landscapes and contributions to history. The focal point of this large quarter is the 72nd Pennsylvania Infantry Monument, this monument commemorates one of the bloodiest and most important battles fought during the Civil War, the Battle of Gettysburg.

Commemorating one the most important battles of the Civil War!

The obverse bears a portrait of George Washington, similar to that of the Washington Quarter.

Raised in the late 1800s, the 72nd Pennsylvania Infantry Monument commemorates the Battle of Gettysburg and the brave soldiers which fought and died during this turning point of the war. This monument is seen on the reverse standing in the Gettysburg National Military Park and surrounded by inscriptions that read, "GETTYSBURG," "PENNSLYVANIA," "2011" and the American motto, "E PLURIBUS UNUM."
