2011-D U.S. Army Commemorative Half Dollar NGC MS69
Why Add this 2011-D U.S. Army 50C Half Dollar NGC MS69 to Your Collection
This 2011-D U.S. Army Half Dollar Commemorative received a near perfect grade of MS69 from the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC), indicating that it has at most two non-detracting flaws. It has the “D” mint mark of the Denver Mint, where the uncirculated coins were struck. It has a limited mintage of just 39,442, making it all the more desirable for collectors. Donna Weaver designed the obverse, which features three parts. On the left is a surveyor and on the right is the Redstone Army rocket, which was built for space exploration. In the center, two members of the Army are constructing a flood wall. The reverse, which was designed by Thomas Cleveland, depicts a Continental solider carrying a musket. He is oriented to the right of the holder. In front of him is the inscription “FIRST IN SERVICE TO THE NATION.” While this coin does not contain any gold or silver, it is sure to have special meaning to members of the Army and their family members, as well as anyone who recognizes the service and sacrifice of those who put themselves in harm’s way for the defense of the nation.
