Why add this 2010-W American Silver Eagle Proof coin to your collection?
The U.S. Mint began annual release the American Silver Eagle series in 1986. In 2009, during a period of high worldwide demand for silver products, only the bullion version of the series was released. The Mint resumed its production of the proof variety of the American Silver Eagle coin in 2010. Minting of the uncirculated, burnished version of the coin was cancelled for the second consecutive year, making this 2010-W Proof Silver Eagle the only option available for collectors. The coin was struck at the West Point Mint from 1 Troy oz. of .999 fine silver, its mintage reported to be 849,861.
Adolph A. Weinman's Walking Liberty
The obverse depicts Lady Liberty wrapped in an American Flag, confidently striding toward the sunrise. Inscribed "LIBERTY," "IN GOD WE TRUST" and "2010."
A heraldic eagle designed by John Mercanti is featured on the reverse. Inscribed "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "1 OZ. FINE SILVER," "ONE DOLLAR," "E PLURIBUS UNUM" and "W."
