Why order this $50 1 oz. 2009-W Gold Buffalo Proof
This 1 oz. 2009-W $50 Gold Buffalo Proof was struck at the West Point Mint, as evidenced by its "W" Mint mark. This piece is one of just 49,306 of its kind, with just a fraction of those receiving perfect grades. It would make an ideal addition to any American coin collection.
Classic Designs by James Earle Fraser
Both faces of this coin get their designs from James Earle Fraser's Buffalo nickel. The obverse features Fraser's composite portrait of a Native American man. The fine details of his face are easily discernible because the portrait takes up nearly the entire face, and feathers adorn the back of the man's head.
Fraser captured the size of the buffalo on the reverse, where it spans nearly the entire diameter. Above and below the animal are several inscriptions, including the coin's face value, "$50," and its metal weight and content, "1 OZ. .9999 FINE GOLD."
Flawless Proof 70 Deep Cameo First Strike with Buffalo Label
According to the graders at the Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS), this coin was struck perfectly and has not suffered any damage since its production. That is why they awarded it their highest grade of Proof 70. For its strong contrasts between frosted devices and mirrored fields, they also certified it as a Deep Cameo. Grading information was provided on a special label that features an image of the animal depicted on the coin.
