Why purchase this brilliant uncirculated Burnished 2008-W American Silver Eagle Reverse of 2007 coin?

The U.S. Mint introduced the American Silver Eagle series in 1986. For the 2008 release, the Mint slightly altered the lettering style on the reverse, a change that was most noticeable in the letter "U" formed with a serif in the word "UNITED." A significant variety to the series occurred in 2008, when some of the burnished style Silver Eagle coins were minted with the reverse of 2007, featuring the non-serif "U."

  • This is a 2008-W Burnished American Silver Eagle Reverse of 2007 variety coin.
  • The 40.60 mm diameter coin contains 1 Troy oz. of .999 fine silver.
  • The West Point Mint struck silver dollar features an exquisite satiny burnished finish.
  • The coin will arrive in its original Mint package.
  • Final mintage is reported to be only 47,000 pieces.

Breathtaking Patriotic Silver Eagle Imagery

Obverse: The obverse features the timeless rendition of Lady Liberty created by acclaimed early 20th century sculptor Adolph A. Weinman for the 1916 Walking Liberty Half Dollar. Ms. Liberty is portrayed walking towards the rising sun with an American flag elegantly draped around her form, while carrying a cluster of oak and laurel branches. Inscriptions include "LIBERTY," "2008" and "IN GOD WE TRUST."

Reverse: The reverse is adorned with an eagle grasping an olive branch and a bundle of arrows in its talons, with thirteen stars above. Inscribed "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "1 OZ. FINE SILVER," "ONE DOLLAR," "E PLURIBUS UNUM" and "W." This classic heraldic eagle image is the defining element of the Type-1 style Silver Eagle, which was issued from 1986 until mid-2021. The design is credited to John Mercanti, the currently retired 12th U.S. Mint Chief Engraver.
