2008-W $50 1 oz. Proof Gold Buffalo
NGC PF70 UC Early Releases (Buffalo Label)
Why add this 2008-W $50 Gold Buffalo NGC PF70 UC ER Proof 70 Ultra Cameo Early Releases to your collection?
The Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) gave this 2008-W $50 Gold Buffalo Proof its highest grade of PF70 UC (Ultra Cameo) and designated it as among its Early Releases (ER), which means that they received the coin within the first thirty days of its release. The reverse features the animal for which the coin is named, while the obverse features the head of a Native American man, which Fraser created as a composite of three or four models. Just under one of the feathers that comes down from the back of his head is the mint mark, a “W” for the West Point Mint. The coin’s proof finish serves to accentuate the finer details of Fraser’s design and is what makes this coin stand out from other coins that bear the same designs. The coin is made up of 1 Troy oz. of .9999 pure gold, numbers that the United States government backs. This piece would make a beautiful addition to any collection of American coins, as well as a collections of coins with animal images and those that have historic imagery.
