Why add this Proof Gold American Buffalo Set to your collection?

2008 marks the only year that the American Gold Buffalo coin was produced in fractional sizes. This beautiful graded set includes a one ounce, one-half ounce, one-quarter ounce, and one-tenth ounce coin. Struck at the U.S. Mint, West Point, these coins emulate the design of the Type I Buffalo Nickel first issued in 1913. The four coin set has a total precious metal weight of 1.85 Troy oz., and a gold purity of .9999.

The reverse depicts Black Diamond, an American buffalo that lived at the Central Park Zoo, New York in the early 1900’s. Inscribed are: “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA”, “E PLURIBUS UNUM”, “IN GOD WE TRUST” and “.9999 FINE GOLD”. Each coin also has the appropriate inscribed weight and denomination. The obverse features a proud American Indian in profile. Inscribed are: “LIBERTY”, “2008” and “W”. The design of the Gold Buffalo coin is credited to sculptor James Earle Fraser, the original creator of the Buffalo Nickel in 1913.

Each coin in this Proof Gold Buffalo Set is graded PF70 UC by Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC), a highly respected coin authentication company. Proof coins are exquisitely detailed and mirror-like. The Ultra Cameo (UC) designation refers to the exceptional quality of the coin’s surfaces.

This incredible 2008 Proof Gold American Buffalo Set of coins in PF70 is highly collectible, since this remains the only year that fractional Gold Buffalos were issued. Add to your collection, order today from MCM.
