This 2007-W Proof Silver Eagle is a stunning rendering of the design that is featured on the United States’ silver bullion coin. Both sides have designs that are historically and symbolically significant, the obverse being an adaptation of Adolph Weinman’s 1916 Walking Liberty and the reverse being an adaptation of the Great Seal of the United States. Whether coin collector or not, all Americans can likely appreciate the beauty and patriotism embodied in this coin.
Design of the 2007-W Proof Silver Eagle
On the obverse of this 2007-W Proof Silver Eagle, Lady Liberty is portrayed walking toward the left, which is where the sun is setting on the horizon. She carries important symbols of civilian and military honors, branches of laurel and oak, respectively, in her left hand while her right extends out in front of her with her elbow bent and palm open. Her name, “LIBERTY,” is inscribed along the top half of the rim, and the mintage year, “2007,” is inscribed horizontally under her right foot. On the right is the inscription of the national motto, “IN GOD WE TRUST.”
The design on the reverse features two main parts. At the top, thirteen stars representing the original thirteen states are arranged in a triangular shape that points toward the eagle’s head below. The eagle is spread around a shield, which it protects. A ribbon reading “E PLURIBUS UNUM” (From many, one) extends from its beak. One of its talons grasps arrows, indicative of a country willing to fight to protect its values, while the other holds an olive branch, a symbol of peace. “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” arches around the top half of the design while an inscription along the bottom offers the metal content and face value of the coin.
