Why add this Mint State 69, 2007-W Burnished American Silver Eagle to your collection?
The first coins of the U.S. Mint's American Silver Eagle series were released in 1986 in bullion and collectible proof finishes. Twenty years later in 2006, a second collectible version of the coin was introduced featuring a "W" Mint mark like the proof, but with a satin-like burnished finish. This 2007-W Burnished Silver Eagle was struck at the West Point Mint from 1 Troy oz. of .999 fine silver with a mintage of 621,333.
Adolph A. Weinman's Dramatic Walking Liberty Design
The obverse depicts Lady Liberty striding toward the rising sun while cradling a bouquet of oak and laurel branches, with the American flag elegantly draped around her and the word "LIBERTY" curving overhead. Additional inscriptions include "2007" and "IN GOD WE TRUST."
The reverse, created by United States Mint sculptor John Mercanti, portrays a heraldic eagle behind a shield grasping an olive branch and arrows with thirteen stars above, an image similar to the patriotic emblem of the Great Seal of the United States. Inscribed "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "1 OZ. FINE SILVER," "ONE DOLLAR," "W" and "E PLURIBUS UNUM."
