Breathtaking Silver Eagle Design

Obverse: The obverse depicts Lady Liberty walking towards the rising sun while elegantly wrapped in an American flag. This time-honored personification of Liberty is borrowed from the 1916 Walking Liberty Half Dollar designed by acclaimed medallic sculptor Adolph A. Weinman. Inscribed "LIBERTY," "IN GOD WE TRUST" and "2007."

Reverse: Centered on the reverse is a heraldic eagle clutching an olive branch and arrows, with thirteen stars above. Inscriptions include "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "1 OZ. FINE SILVER," "ONE DOLLAR," "W" and "E PLURIBUS UNUM." This heraldic eagle Type-1 design is credited to John Mercanti, the 12th Chief Engraver of the U.S. Mint. The classic image is featured on all Silver Eagles issued from 1986 until mid-2021.
