2007 was the first year of the US Mint's First Spouse gold coin program, that's also when the Abigail Adams design was released. This coin was struck at the West Point branch of the US Mint and it has an uncirculated finish. This 1/2 oz. coin is made of .9999 fine gold and has a face value of $10. It sold very well at the Mint, the uncirculated version had a final mintage of 17,142 pieces.

Abigail Adams and Her Famous Words

Abigail is featured on the obverse. She is facing the right and is wearing clothing typical of her era. The date and Mint mark can be found here, as well as the years that she was First Lady.

The reverse shows Abigail as she writes. This design shows her writing a letter to her husband and is inscribed with her famous words, 'REMEMBER THE LADIES."
