2007-W 10th Anniversary $50 Reverse Proof Platinum Eagle PCGS PR70
In 2007, the U.S. Mint decided to make a 2-coin set celebrating the 10th Anniversary of the American Eagle Platinum Coin Program. It included the Mint's first Platinum Reverse Proof Coin in the series and limited the mintage to only 30,000 sets worldwide and also limited the sales to an astonishing one per household. They did this to ensure that it would have the broadest and fairest access for all who may be interested in acquiring this set. The set includes the traditional 1/2 oz platinum proof coin as well as an enhanced reverse proof coin. The enhanced reverse proof available for sale here, was not made like the typical reverse proof coins that are minted today - this inaugural version features a frosted background and a mirror like brilliant finish on the raised elements in contrast to frosted background design elements in order to enhance the entire image.
