The Adolph A. Weinman obverse of the coin depicts Lady Liberty walking across the landscape in the dawn of a new day. She is wrapped in the Stars and Stripes of the American Flag and carries with her symbols of strength and prosperity. The John M. Mercanti reverse depicts a magnificent Heraldic Eagle with his wings spread.
