Why add the 2006-W $50 1 oz. Gold Buffalo | NGC PF69 UC (Buffalo Label) to your collection?
Outstanding examples of classic coins are what this hobby is all about. This 2006-W $50 1 oz. Gold Buffalo was graded PF69 UC (Proof 69 Ultra Cameo) by Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) and features the attractive Buffalo Label. The mintage of this attractive proof ended up well below the 300,000 limit at 246, 267.
2006 was the first year of the Gold Buffalo series from the US Mint. The program showcases the first .9999 pure (or 24 karat) gold coin produced in this country. Both bullion and proof versions of the coin were created. The familiar design, originally from 1913, was based on James Earle Fraser’s buffalo nickel, a classic in American Numismatics.
The obverse of this coin features a composite bust of a Native American Chief, rendered from three models. The reverse features the image of Black Diamond, the legendary bison from the New York City Zoo.
This coin contains 1 oz. .9999 pure gold and was struck at the US Mint’s West Point facility using specially polished dies. The Ultra Cameo designation from NGC is given to select proof coins only. This classification describes the beautifully stark contrast between the lower, reflective areas of the coin and the details of the coin that appear highlighted.
Specimens of this grade do not appear frequently. The high grade and below-the-limit mintage of this remarkably beautiful coin would suggest that it will not be in stock for long. Add this coin to your collection today, before demand exceeds supply!
This 2006-W 1 oz Gold Buffalo Proof $50 NGC PF69 UC (Buffalo Label) is proudly minted by the U.S. Mint. The United States Mint was founded in 1792 and manufactures circulating, collectible, and bullion coinage.
