This reverse proof eagle was only issued in the 20th Anniversary Gold set. It is by far the rarest $50 Proof Gold Eagle and over twice as rare as the next strongest issue which is the 2001 with its 24,555 mintage. Being king of $50 Proof Gold Eagles is noteworthy but this coin holds other important distinctions. Its PF-70 quality is impeccable and it is by far the rarest modern reverse proof.
