Why order this 2006-W $50 1 oz. Gold Buffalo Proof
This 1 oz. Gold 2006-W $50 Buffalo Proof was part of the first issue of the Gold Buffalo, making it a 'must have' for collectors of significant issues of modern coins. It was struck at the West Point Mint from .9999 fine gold, matching the purity of its bullion counterpart. The coin brings modern minting standards to bear on classic American designs.
Iconic Buffalo Design by James Earle Fraser
This coin gets both of its designs from James Earle Fraser's Buffalo nickel. In designing the nickel, Fraser set out to create a coin that would be immediately recognizable as America. To that end, he has a composite portrait of an aging Native American man on the obverse. The man has long hair and feathers tied up at the back of his head, as well as distinct facial features. On the reverse is an American bison.
Impeccable PR70 DCAM with Black Diamond Label
This coin received Professional Coin Grading Service's (PCGS's) highest grade, Proof 70 (PR70), which is reserved for coins that are in perfect condition as seen under 5x magnification. It also received Deep Cameo (DCAM) certification, a designation that means that there are particularly sharp contrasts between frosted devices and mirrored fields on both faces. This information is provided on a label that features an image of Black Diamond, the bison on which James Earle Fraser modeled his Buffalo nickel.
