Striking Kite Experiment Design by Norman E. Nemeth

Obverse: The coin's obverse, which was designed by Normal Nemeth, bears an image of Ben Franklin conducting his famous kite experiment. He is flanked by the inscriptions "IN GOD WE TRUST" and "BEN FRANKLIN SCIENTIST." "LIBERTY" and the anniversary dates, "1706-2006," are inscribed along the rim.

Reverse: Charles Vickers's reverse design features an image from the American Revolution. A serpent is divided into three parts above the words "JOIN OR DIE." "E PLURIBUS UNUM" is inscribed just above, while rim inscriptions provide the name of the issuing country, "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," and the coin's face value, "ONE DOLLAR."
