Design of the 2006 Mint State Silver Eagle
Adapted from Adolph A. Weinman’s Walking Liberty, the obverse design shows Lady Liberty is draped in an American Flag, walking gracefully as the sun rises over a ridge along with the issue year.
The reverse is a 1986 design by John Mercanti that portrays a heraldic eagle behind a shield echoing the Great Seal of the United States. It shows the eagle grasping an olive branch and arrows, adorned by thirteen five-pointed stars representing the original Thirteen Colonies. The reverse is inscribed with the phrases UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, 1 OZ. FINE SILVER~ONE DOLLAR, and E PLURIBUS UNUM.
When the 2006 Silver American Eagles were being minted, the price of silver was high, triggering a spike in silver bullion coin sales. The final bullion mintage for 2006 topped 10 million, only the third time in the Silver Eagle's long history to achieve this high water mark. The 2006 1 oz. Silver Eagle Gem Brilliant Uncirculated coin is in exceptional condition and made of .999 fine silver. It bears no Mint mark. As the 20th anniversary coin in this already attractive series, the 2006 1 oz. Silver Eagle coin is an essential component to any collector’s portfolio! Imagine the value of a roll of 20!
