2005-W Proof Silver Eagle PCGS PR70 DCAM Proof 70 Deep Cameo
This 2005-W Proof Silver Eagle offers a literally perfect way to enable collectors to appreciate every detail in the design of America’s silver bullion coin. The deep cameo look provides a beautiful contrast between the designs and inscriptions and the background, making it much easier to examine than the bullion version.
Design of the 2005-W Proof Silver Eagle
On the obverse of the 2005-W Proof Silver Eagle, Lady Liberty strides forward with her right foot, which is placed in the middle at the bottom. Her left foot extends behind her, about to leave the ground. Lady Liberty holds branches of laurel and oak, symbols of civilian and military honors, in her left hand, while she extends her right, with an open palm, in front of her toward the left of the coin. The sun is setting on the horizon. The word “LIBERTY” arches from the sun’s rays on the left to the right along the rim. Just under the last letter are the words, “IN GOD WE TRUST,” America’s national motto. “2005,” the year of mintage, is under Liberty’s right foot.
An eagle dominates the reverse. It guards a shield, which covers its body. Its talons, which hold an olive branch and arrows, symbols of peace and a willingness to fight for American values, extend under the shield. In its beak, the eagle holds a ribbon that extends horizontally. The ribbon reads, “E PLURIBUS UNUM.” Thirteen stars are arranged over its head. “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” arches over the top half of the rim, while the coin’s metal content, “1 OZ. FINE SILVER,” and face value, “ONE DOLLAR,” appear on the bottom half.
Why add this 2005-W Proof Silver Eagle to your collection?
This 2005-W Proof Silver Eagle received a perfect PF70 grade from the Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS). It has the same metal content, 1 oz., as the bullion version of the coin, yet the proof finish and deep cameo look render this coin especially attractive as a stand-alone part of any collection of American coins.
