2005-W Silver Eagle PCGS PR69 DCAM Proof 69 Deep Cameo
This 2005-W Silver Eagle PR69 Proof is a special rendering of the design that it shares with America’s widely popular silver bullion coin. It features an adaptation of Adolph Weinman’s highly acclaimed Walking Liberty, which he created for the half dollar in 1916. This coin provides collectors with a proof deep cameo version that brings out every detail, while it offers stackers the opportunity to get an “upscale” version of a bullion favorite.
Design of this 2005-W Silver Eagle PR69 Proof
On the obverse of this 2005-W Silver Eagle PR69 Proof, Lady Liberty is striding toward the left side of the coin. In her left hand, she holds branches of laurel and oak, which symbolize civilian and military honors. Her right hand, she extends in front of her. The sun sets on the horizon on the lower left. Arching over the image is the word, “LIBERTY,” and the national motto, “IN GOD WE TRUST,” is inscribed just below the “Y.” The mintage year, “2005,” is inscribed in the ground under her right foot.
On the reverse is John Mercanti’s adaptation of the image that appears on the Great Seal of the United States. An eagle guards a shield, which covers its body. Its wings and talons extend around the shield, and a ribbon that reads “E PLURIBUS UNUM” extends horizontally from its beak. The talons grasp an olive branch and arrows, symbols of peace and the willingness of the nation to fight for the values it holds dear. Thirteen stars appear above the eagle’s head. The country’s name is inscribed along the top, while the metal content and face value follow the rim on the bottom.
