  • This example was struck on a .999 fine silver planchet weighing 1 full oz.
  • This piece was found in a Silver Eagle hoard tucked away for over 17 years in a closet wall.
  • Out of 7,000 coins, only 18 of the 2003 bullion Silver Eagles in this hoard were graded Mint State 69.
  • This is a legal tender U.S. Silver Dollar.

Spectacular Designs

Obverse: The obverse features Adolph A. Weinman's classic Liberty Walking Half Dollar design. Liberty is depicted wrapped in the U.S. Flag while striding confidently across the landscape. Behind her the sun is rising, suggesting optimism and freedom.

Reverse: The reverse features an original design from John M. Mercanti, the 12th Chief Engraver of the U.S. Mint. The image is a Heraldic Eagle depicted behind the Union shield. Overhead floats an inverted triangular field of thirteen stars.

Mr. Murel's Hoard

In 2020, a lifelong coin collector known as Mr. Murel passed away. He never trusted banks. Instead of making deposits, he bought a whopping total of EIGHTEEN ASE Monster Boxes in 2002 and 2003 and sealed them into the wall of his bedroom closet! His collection also comprised over $22k in face value of 90% "Junk" silver coins as well as other numismatic items. The coins sat undisturbed, encapsulated in the wall for seventeen years until last year. These coins were examined and a limited number that were expected to grade well were submitted to NGC. Out of 7,000 coins, only 18 of the 2003 American Silver Eagles submitted to NGC qualified for the Mint State 69 grade, and once they are gone, they are gone! To honor Mr. Murel's legacy, NGC immortalized him with a pedigree on this exceptional collector coin.
