Why add the 2002 American Silver Eagle NGC MS69 Murel Hoard to your collection?
This 2002 American Silver Eagle coin has a fascinating story to tell. The coin was graded at the solid grade of Mint State 69 (MS69) from third party grading firm Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) and features a pedigree that refers to the Murel Hoard, of which it is a part.
Iconic Designs with Deep Roots
Obverse: The timeless obverse design was created by Adolph A. Weinman and features the Goddess Liberty walking across the landscape. She carries with her the U.S. Flag and branches of laurel and oak, symbols of prosperity and strength.
Reverse: The reverse design is John Mercanti's Heraldic Eagle beneath a field of thirteen stars. The stars symbolize the original colonies, the eagle depicts the power and majesty of the United States.
Mr. Murel's Legacy
We lost a legend in 2020: Mr. Murel. He was an avid lifelong coin collector and bullion enthusiast who never trusted banks. In 2002 and 2003, he bought an impressive total of EIGHTEEN ASE Monster Boxes. He then sealed them into the wall of his bedroom closet! In addition to his ASE holdings, he collected over $22k in face value of 90% "Junk" silver coins and some numismatic items. The coins dispassionately rested, sealed in the wall for seventeen years--until last year. The coins were discovered after his passing and examined. A small number of coins expected to grade well were submitted to NGC. To celebrate Mr. Murel's legacy, NGC immortalized him with his own pedigree on this outstanding collector coin.
