Design of the 2002 ¼ oz. Platinum Eagle
Designed by United States Mint sculptor and engraver Al Maletsky, the reverse of the 2002 $25 Platinum Eagle ¼ oz. Also included are the denomination, mint mark and the country’s name in capital letters.
Since its debut in 1997, the obverse has featured the face of Lady Liberty with the sharp points of her crown protruding into the capital letters of LIBERTY that adorn the top of the coin. Designed and sculpted by former United States Mint Sculptor-Engraver John Mercanti, the obverse also includes the issue year followed by “In God We Trust.”
