2000-W $50 Platinum Eagle
The year 2000 represents the fourth year of release for the platinum American Eagles struck in .9995 platinum. Each year that the Proof Platinum eagles were designed, a bald eagle was portrayed in a different landscape on the United States. The 2000 Proof Platinum Eagle features the third reverse design within the “Vistas of Liberty” series and features a bald eagle in America’s heartland. The mintage of the year 2000 platinum American Eagles that were struck for collectors, that of a proof finish with a denomination of $50, was only 11,049 the lowest of all of the denominations minted for this year. This particular 2000 platinum eagle bears a W- Mint mark, which tells us it was minted at the West Point Mint.
