This 2000-P Silver Eagle
This 2000-P American Silver Eagle bears on it what is said to be one of the most popular designs to ever exist in American coinage! This design is found on the obverse of the coin and was designed by the pronounced Adolph A. Weinman, an American sculptor. The design depicts Lady Liberty who is wrapped in an American flag, walking gracefully as the sun rises over a ridge and its rays begin to fill the sky. On the reverse of this coin you will find thirteen small stars in the shape of a triangle that is faced downward. Each small star represents one of the original colonies, and at the tip of the triangle shape that they form you will find an image of a heraldic eagle behind a shield. The eagle is grasping an olive branch in its right talon and an arrow in its left talon; this is said to echo the great seal of the United States, and this much cherished design was created by the respected John Mercanti. On the reverse of the coin you will also see an inscription of a small, “P”, which represents that this coin was minted at the Philadelphia Mint.
This 2000 Silver Eagle was struck using a specialized, high quality minting process that creates a profoundly impressive proof finish to accompany the classic American Silver Eagle design.
