2000-P 1 oz American Silver Eagle $1 NGC PF69 UCOriginally first released in 1986, the American Silver Eagle is and has been the only official silver bullion coin of the United States. It is created in a 1 oz .999 fine silver coin and takes from the designs of US Mint artists that originally created for the series. The silver Eagle is also the world's most recognized bullion coin and traded as such. This particular proof coin was made at the Philadelphia Mint and is embellished with that mint mark on the reverse "P.” This coin has an Ultra Cameo designation by NGC which basically states that the coin displays frosted lettering and devices on both sides of the coin - which is only applied to proof coins and not all proof coins will get that designation. 2000-P American Silver Eagle DesignThe obverse design is a rendition of the original "Walking Liberty" design by Adolph A. Weinman, which Which was originally used on the Walking Liberty Half Dollar coin made by the United States Mint; from 1916 to 1947. This iconic image portrayed on the coin had been a favorite for collectors and the public in general. It is one of the most beloved designs of any United States coinage of our modern times. It took a few decades before it was re- introduced onto the ASE coinage seen here. The reverse was designed by Mint artist & engraver John Mercanti and portrays his classic images of a heraldic eagle behind a shield where the eagle grasps an olive branch in its right talon and arrows in its left talon. This design was made to echo the Great Seal of the United States. Located above the eagle are thirteen five- pointed stars representing the original Thirteen Colonies of the United States. The reverse is inscribed with the phrases UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, 1 OZ. FINE SILVER~ONE DOLLAR, and E PLURIBUS UNUM (on the banner that the eagle holds in its beak), as well as the mintmark of a "P." Why buy this Proof 69 Ultra Cameo grade ASEThis is a high quality coin at an affordable price and is a great back dated option for the silver eagle collector. The actual mintage number for the proof coin from 2000 is 600,743 and year after year they become harder and harder to find. Don't miss out on adding this one to your collection. |
