2000 1 oz. Silver Eagle Gem Brilliant Uncirculated
In 1986, the U.S. began minting a series of coins that were destined to steal the hearts of both silver collectors and stackers alike: The American Silver Eagle Coin. These coins possess a remarkably high degree of craftsmanship, evident in the minute detail of their intricate engravings.
While the American Silver Eagle was originally intended as a bullion stacker's coin, it has gained notice within the coin enthusiast community as well. These uncirculated coins have become increasingly popular over the past several years, and perhaps not surprisingly, increasingly more difficult to find-particularly the coins designated "Brilliant Uncirculated."
These 1 Troy oz. coins have been minted from 99.9% pure silver (.999 fine). They measure 40.6 mm in diameter with a width of 2.98
Design of the 2000 1 oz. Silver American Eagle Coin
A stunning, mirror-bright image will greet you from either side of your remarkable coin. The obverse portrays Lady Liberty as she approaches the rising sun. This design by Adolph A. Weinman is known as "Walking Liberty" and was originally used on the Walking Liberty Half Dollar Coin, minted from 1916 to 1947. The design was so popular it was reinstated for the American Silver Eagle coin. In one hand, Lady Liberty holds a bundle of branches, which symbolizes the wealth and abundance of our nation's resources. Her other hand is extended in a welcoming gesture, a clear symbol of the generosity of our great country as we share our abundant resources with the world.
The reverse side of this coin bears the Great Seal of the United States-the unofficial "coat of arms" for our country. Emblazoned proudly across the surface is a bald eagle, which majestically spreads its wings from behind a shield, beneath a canopy of stars. The eagle holds two important items in its talons: an olive branch as a symbol of peace, and arrows to reflect our government's duty to defend and protect that peace.
The reverse also contains the phrases: "1 OZ. FINE SILVER-ONE DOLLAR," "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," and "E PLURIBUS UNUM." The sides are reeded, with a weight of 31.07 grams. It contains 1 Troy oz. of three nines fine silver (.999 fine). The diameter is 40.66 mm.
Why add the 2000 1 oz. Silver Eagle Coin to your collection?
This Brilliant Uncirculated Coin won't be available forever. With a silver content guaranteed by the US government, and a relatively low mintage, these coins are perfect to augment the already established collection or to introduce a potential silver collector to the excitement of owning a stunning piece of American History. Crafted with care, these coins are also special because of their "Brilliant Uncirculated" designation. This designation means you will receive a coin that has never been used in commerce.
