Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) graded this 2-Piece Set - 2019-P American Legion 100th Anniversary Commemorative Silver Dollar and Medal Proofs at the Proof 70 Ultra Cameo level. The set earned the First Releases designation and was encapsulated with the collectible hand-signed label by John M. Mercanti, American sculptor and engraver whose career entailed taking on the reputable position as the former 12th U.S. Mint Chief Engraver. The issue was struck at the Philadelphia Mint on .999 pure silver blanks, although only the Silver Dollar bears the "P" Mint mark. The mintage of the set--and therefore the medal--is limited to 10,000.
American Legion 100th Anniversary Designs
The medal's obverse features a Bald Eagle and the inscription "Honoring America's Veterans." The reverse features a field of stars with one star removed and incused. "Service and Sacrifice" is the somber reverse inscription. The dollar's obverse of the coin features the American Legion emblem. The reverse combines the Fleur de Lis and some crossed flagpoles holding the American Flag and the American Legion flags.
