Why order this 2-Piece 100th Anniversary 2019-P American Legion Commemorative Silver Dollar and Medal Set?

Patriotic collectors are sure to appreciate this two piece set, which honors the American Legion. Founded on the pillars of Americanism, Veterans Affairs and Rehabilitation, National Security, and Children and Youth, it is America's largest wartime veterans organization. It was founded in France in 1919 in the wake of World War I. Now, the U.S Mint marks the organization's centennial anniversary with this stunning set. Both pieces were struck from 26.73 g of .999 fine silver, and the dollar bears the Philadelphia Mint's "P" mint mark.

Powerful Eagle Design by Benjamin Sowards

Benjamin Sowards created the design for the medal's obverse, which was sculpted by Joseph Menna. An eagle represents courage, determination, and initiative as it spreads its wings preparing to take flight. Next to it are five stars, one for each branch of the US military. "HONORING AMERICA'S VETERANS" is inscribed on the rim frame. The moving reverse design was created by Richard Masters and sculpted by Renata Gordon. A fields of stars represents all of America's veterans. One is missing, representing those who never came home from their service. At the bottom is a single incuse star along with the inscription "SERVICE AND SACRIFICE."

Renata Gordon sculpted Paul Balan's obverse design for the silver dollar. A lily and oak leaves adorn the emblem of the American Legion. Patricia Lucas-Morris's reverse design, which was sculpted by Michael Gaudioso, features a fleur de lis, which represents the Legion's ties to France, and the inscription "100 YEARS OF SERVICE." The American and American Legion flags are crossed below.

Nearly Perfect PF69 UC FR with Liberty Flag Label

Grading information for these pieces comes provided on labels that feature American flags, known as the Liberty Flag Label. Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) certified that both pieces are in Proof 69 condition, meaning that they are perfect as seen by the unaided eye. They certified the pieces Ultra Cameo for their sharp contrasts between heavily frosted devices and deeply mirrored fields and First Releases due to the fact that they were submitted for grading no more than 30 days after the set's initial release.
