Walking Liberty with Type 1 and Type 2 Reverses
Obverse: The obverse of these 2021 Silver Eagles still show the Walking Liberty design. The Type 2 Silver Eagle includes the designer Adolph Weinman’s artist initials, “AW” for the first tiem in the series. The history behind this design goes all the way back to 1916 when it was created for use on the half dollar. Liberty is depicted with a bundle of oak and laurel branches. She’s wearing the stars and stripes and has one arm out as she walks forward.
Reverse: The Type 1 reverse shows a heraldic bald eagle. The eagle has a banner in its beak along with arrows and an olive branch in its talons. The Type 2 reverse shows a more realistic depiction of a bald eagle. The eagle descends with an oak branch in its talons.
NGC MS69 T1 Last Day and First T2 Production Set with Exclusive Eagle Labels
Both of these 2021 Silver Eagles are almost perfect, so they received the grade of Mint State 69 from the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC). The Type 1 specimen received the “Last Day of Production ” designation. Only 150,000 of the 200,000 final Type 1 Silver Eagles to be produced by the United States Mint were eligible for this designation. The Type 2 specimen was given the “First T2 Production” designation, which puts it among the first 200,000 Type 2 specimens. Each one has a ModernCoinMart exclusive eagle label to show its grade.
