Description

Why does this flawless First Strike set of 2021-W and 2022-W Type-2 Burnished American Silver Eagle coins belong in your collection?

The U.S. Mint has issued the American Silver Eagle since 1986. In mid-2021, thirty-five years after the launch of the series, the Mint introduced the first ever major design modification to the iconic silver dollar. On the Type-2 Silver Eagle, the cherished Walking Liberty image remains on the obverse. The reverse features a completely new design dedicated to the U.S. national bird, replacing the Type-1 heraldic eagle graphic with a realistic interpretation of an eagle preparing to land.

  • This set includes one 2021-W and one 2022-W dated American Silver Eagle coin.
  • The pair of coins represents the first and second releases of the Type-2 variety with a satiny Burnished finish.
  • Each 40.60 mm diameter coin is a product of the West Point Mint.
  • Each coin is crafted from 1 Troy oz. of .999 fine silver.
  • For added security, the Type-2 Silver Eagle coins are minted with an innovative interrupted reeded edge.
  • Each silver dollar in the set is perfectly graded.
  • Each coin features an American flag themed First Strike certification label.

Gorgeous Silver Eagle Type-2 Design

Obverse: The obverse features Lady Liberty casually strolling towards the rising sun, while enveloped in the stars and stripes of the United States. The young lady is depicted carrying a bouquet of oak and laurel branches, which are symbolic of strength, victory and honor. Inscribed “LIBERTY,” “IN GOD WE TRUST” and the date “2021” or “2022.” This timeless image was initially created by renowned medallic sculptor Adolph A. Weinman for the 1916 Walking Liberty Half Dollar. The design is primarily unaltered for the Type-2 style Silver Eagle, with the addition of Mr. Weinman’s “AW” monogram beneath the motto.

Reverse: An eagle with lifted wings is centered on the reverse, as it prepares to add a branch of oak to its unseen nest. Surrounding inscriptions include “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “1 OZ. FINE SILVER,” “E PLURIBUS UNUM” and “ONE DOLLAR,” along with the “W” Mint mark of the West Point Mint. The incredibly lifelike Type-2 eagle landing graphic is credited to acclaimed illustrator Emily Damstra, a U.S. Mint Artistic Infusion Program Artist since 2014.
