Why order this 2-Coin 2018-W Proof Silver American Eagle Set?
Combine classic coins and important numismatic figures and you get this 2-Coin 2018-W Silver American Eagle Proof Set. The coins were struck from .999 fine silver, and both have the West Point Mint's "W" Mint mark on the reverse.
Classic Walking Liberty Design by Adolph Weinman
Both coins have Adolph Weinman's Walking Liberty design on the obverse. Taken from the half dollar, the image features Liberty carrying branches in one hand and extending the other above the morning sun. The iconic figure is draped in the American flag and wears a symbol of her freedom, a Phrygian cap, on her head.
John Mercanti's reverse design was modeled off of the Great Seal of the United States. At the top are thirteen stars, one for each of the original states. Below, a union shield is guarded by an eagle that clutches arrows in one talon and an olive branch in the other.
Flawless PF70 UC ER with Mercanti & Jones Signed Labels
The Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) certified that both of these coins are in perfect condition by awarding them their highest grade, Proof 70 (PF70). NGC also credited them with having particularly sharp contrasts between deeply mirrored fields and heavily frosted devices by certifying them as Ultra Cameos (UC). This information has been printed on labels that were signed by John Mercanti and Elizabeth Jones, former Chief Engravers of the U.S. Mint.
