This enticing 2-Coin Set - 1953 + 1966 Panama Silver has two 1 Silver Balboa coins in About Uncirculated/Brilliant Uncirculated condition. The 1953 coin was struck to mark the 50th Anniversary of the Republic of Panama by the famous Mexican Mint. The 1966 coin was struck by the artisans at the U.S. Mint. The coins were each struck on 90% pure silver planchets that contain .7735 oz. actual silver weight.

Traditional Balboa Obverses

The obverse image used on each coin is a helmeted, bust of Vasco Nunez de Balboa. He was a famous Spanish explorer and conquistador who was the first European who became the first European to reach the Pacific from the New World. The reverse image on the 1953 coin features a full-length Liberty holding an oak branch and fasces. The 1966 issue features the Panamanian shield beneath a field of nine stars.
