Why purchase this 1932-1934 Cuban Star Peso Silver Coin and 1934-P American Silver Peace Dollar Set?
This exciting multi-national set includes a 1934 Peace Dollar struck at the Philadelphia Mint and a Cuban Star Peso dated 1932-1934, also struck at the Philadelphia Mint. The Cuban coin was even designed by a U.S. Mint Chief Engraver! During a break in Peace Dollar production at the start of the Great Depression, the Mint used the Peace Dollar's silver planchets to strike the Cuban coins. In fact, in 1934, the amount of Star Pesos produced more than tripled the 954,057 mintage of the 1934-P Peace Dollar.
Distinctive Coin Designs
Designed by Charles Barber, the reverse of the Cuban Star Peso features a radiating star with the date of issue below, while the Republic of Cuba's Coat of Arms is centered on the obverse.
The American Peace Dollar designed by Anthony de Francisci depicts Lady Liberty in a spiked crown above the date "1934" on the obverse, with a bald eagle standing proudly upon a mountain peak on the reverse.
